A Look at the 2019 NBA Playoffs
Last Updated on
As we head into the Western and Eastern Conference finals, four elite teams remain in the 2019 NBA Playoffs. In the West, the Golden State Warriors (1) ousted the Houston Rockets (4) and are set to play the Portland Trail Blazers, (3) who took care of the Denver Nuggets (2) in a thrilling game seven. In the East, the Milwaukee Bucks (1) bested the Boston Celtics (4) in only five games, advancing them to play the Toronto Raptors, (2) who just barely edged out a win in game seven over the Philadelphia 76’ers. And if you’re looking to catch all the action between the final four teams, Long Wong’s AZ Famous Wings will be showing every second on our large screen TVs.
No LeBron in 2019
Of course, the big news of the 2019 NBA playoffs is that LeBron James did not make an appearance for the first time since 2010. His highly anticipated move to the LA Lakers had everyone on their feet for a Lakers comeback to glory. But battling through injuries and a struggling team franchise, the Lakers ended their season in a devastating fashion, finishing 10th in the Western Conference.
Overall, regardless of the team he was playing for, LeBron has made the NBA Playoffs 13 times in his 15-year career. Nine of those years he made it to the finals, winning three championship titles. Some say he’s the best player the league has ever seen. And due to his dominance over the past decade and a half, the absence of LeBron from this Playoff series has been a huge loss for the game of basketball itself.
2018 Playoff Results
Last year, the Cleveland Cavaliers faced the Golden State Warriors in the championship round for the fourth time in a row. Of the previous three encounters, Golden State won twice and Cleveland won once. 2018 was the year for LeBron to even the score, and the matchup was expected to be highly competitive. However, with Stephen Curry at the helm, the Warriors swept the finals in four games. Perhaps this 3-1 losing record over the past four championship titles is what precipitated a LeBron team switch.
2019 NBA Playoff Predictions
From the start of the 2019 postseason, many predicted an easy win for the Golden State Warriors. And with the exception of an injury to Kevin Durant in game 5 against Houston, thus far the Warriors are still the heavy favorites. ESPN’s experts predict the Warriors will beat the Trail Blazers in six and the Bucks will defeat the Raptors in six, setting up a Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks final.
Whatever the results, as a sports bar in West Phoenix, it’s our opinion that there’s nothing like enjoying the big game along with the best wings in Phoenix and a cold beer. So come on down and cheer on your favorite team with us!
