Best Southwest Destinations for RV Vacations

Last Updated on

As a wing and pizza joint in Arizona, one of the reasons our staff at Long Wongs in Phoenix loves the Southwest is its diverse geographical beauty and wide open spaces. At first thought, the Southwest may seem like just a lot of desert. And there is definitely desert here, but there’s also so much beauty. And if you’ve got an RV or are planning an RV vacation, you’ve likely considered the American Southwest as the region you’d like to explore. Since we’ve done a little exploring ourselves, let us be your guides and suggest some recommendations for the best southwest destinations for RV vacations.

Arizona Highlights

We may be a little biased, but we’re wild about Arizonaour 48th state and we promise it won’t disappoint with all its landscape awe and wonder. For starters, it’s the home of the Grand Canyon, which is one natural wonder you shouldn’t miss in this lifetime!

And if you haven’t traveled in the Southwest, you’ve probably never seen a Saguaro Cactus. They only grow in the Sonoran desert, which spans Arizona, Southern California and Northwest Mexico. And the best place to see these big guys is Saguaro National Park in Arizona. From Phoenix, the park is only a 2hr drive south.

On your way North, cruise old Route 66 through stunning Flagstaff. Relive the memories of past decades when this famous road was a popular destination for roadtrippers. Then, meander up to the Grand Canyon or continue on your way further West.

Utah’s 5 National Parks

From the Grand Canyon, you’ll be perfectly situated to wander north and cross into Utah, where five (yes five!) National Parks await you: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Zion. These parks will feed your soul with sweeping overlooks, stunning natural red rock formations—and for you history lovers—ancient Native American cave paintings.

The splendor of these parks is not only in their natural beauty but also in the fact that they’re so tightly packed together. Take your time and enjoy all they have to offer, or hit all five parks in five days. The choice is yours.

There you go, our take on the best southwest destinations for RV vacations. Whether you’re starting your trip in Phoenix or just passing through, come and grab a meal at Long Wongs AZ Famous Wings, to sustain you on the long journey. You’ll love our finger-licking delicious wings and our lip-smacking pizza options! We hope to see you soon!
